Novagenus works with its clients to develop rich and effective permission based email marketing campaigns. Novagenus understands that your privacy is important to you and is committed to the ethical use of permission-based email marketing. As email is increasingly being used as an effective tool for organizations to communicate with their customers and partners, it is important that issues of personal privacy are respected and to this end we work with our clients to promote ethical guidelines surrounding the use of this medium.

Novagenus believes that privacy is a right and not a privilege. We are committed to addressing privacy concerns and protecting your privacy in accordance with the National Privacy Principles (NPPs) of Australia, as set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the amended (Privacy Act). Novagenus also adheres to the principles and guidelines of the Direct Marketers Association. This privacy policy outlines the way in which Novagenus achieves this.

Novagenus collects data on behalf of its clients. Novagenus may collect information from within a Novacast movie that will be entered into a database. As a part of the marketing campaign, Novagenus may also place a cookie on your computer that can be used as a way to collect additional information for the Client company. The Client company sending the Novacast may then contact you with promotions or specific offers as a part of their ongoing marketing campaign.

The type of personal information that Novagenus collects will depend on the nature of the Novacast movie. Information from your computer such as IP address may also be collected by the Novacast as a way to help analyse usage. We may collect personal information from you in the following circumstances:
interactive elements within the movie may ask you to answer certain questions or submit certain information
certain actions that you perform within the Novacast movie may also be recorded into a database to help inform the client about your specific interests and to help improve usability

All of the data collected by Novagenus in the context of a Novacast campaign belongs to the Client Company that has initiated the campaign. Novagenus will only send Novacast movies or any other email-marketing vehicle on behalf of the Client Company using a list the Client Company provides to Novagenus, or a list acquired by the Client Company. Novagenus does not sell, rent or trade personal information about you to, or with, third parties. Personal information that has been collected in the context of a marketing campaign belongs to the Client Company.

Novagenus uses personal information that is supplied by the Client Company to send each Novacast. This data is generally coming from the Client Companies existing database. Or in some cases, your email details may have been entered by an individual who has chosen to forward the email movie to you. When executing a Novacast campaign from a list received from a Client Company, Novagenus assumes the Client Company has your personal information because in some way you consented to share it with them.

Individuals share their information with our Client Companies because in some way, they may have been interested in or needed more information about a company's products, services, events. Novagenus encourages its Client Companies to only market to individuals who have opted in to such marketing. In the case where a Client Company has purchase an email list, Novagenus strongly encourages the Client Company to follow principles of using opt-in lists, as outlined by the Direct Marketers Association.

Novagenus takes all reasonable procedures to ensure the security of personal information and company information stored in our databases. When clients or individuals submit sensitive information, the data is protected both online and off-line. All information in our databases is kept strictly confidential. Only authorized Client employees are permitted access to the Novacast management tools that allow access to personal information and each Client company only has access to data that is directly supplied by them. All access to the online Management Tools are protected through password protected access.

A Novacast movie may contain links to external web sites or web pages. In the case where there are external links, you may leave the Novacast movie. In many cases these web pages are maintained by the Client Company or by another party. Novagenus is in no way is responsible for the content on the pages, nor for the privacy policies applicable for those web sites. Novagenus recommends you check the privacy statements applicable for that site in order to understand how you personal information might be used while at that site.

Novagenus may in some instances install a cookie on the recipient's computer in order to personalise the customer experience or to collect. A cookie is a small piece of text that asks permission to be placed on your computer's hard drive. If you agree, then your browser adds the text in a small file. A cookie can be used to verify a user's login status or to help analyze traffic. Cookies allow applications to respond to you as an individual. By gathering and remembering information about your preferences, the application can tailor its operation to your needs, likes and dislikes.

Most web browsers are set by default to accept cookies. However, if you do not wish to receive cookies, you may set your browser to either prompt or refuse cookies. The refusal of a cookie should not prevent you from experiencing a Novacast.

Recipients who no longer wish to receive email or promotional materials from the Client Company may opt-out of receiving these communications by clicking on the URL provided for this purpose in the emails that we send. This opt-out will cancel all marketing materials. Novagenus transmits the opt-out information back to the Client Company so they can update their database. Novagenus retains a copy of the opt-out file in proof of support of the Direct Marketing Association email marketing protocol.

Under the principles outlined in the Australian Federal Privacy Act, you have the right to seek access to your personal information. Novagenus believes that privacy is a right and not a privilege and adheres to these principles. If you have received a Novacast and want to access the personal information that Novagenus has stored about you, we will generally provide you with copies of the personal information we hold about you unless certain circumstances apply.
